The node we used for the 2.6 mile demo during BYOI is still up and I've made accessible to anyone who wants to do firmware testing.
I set up a dedicated C.H.I.P. single board computer running OpenVPN with a public facing server. We already know this node is capable of TX all the way to Omni, and on Friday night I made further contact(1) with it's neighboring node. So if you're near enough to take advantage, send me a public key and I'll set up VPN access. The OpenVPN client is fairly easy to setup and I'm happy to help out.

Hey #disasterradio !! I've been working on a C implementation of the SX1276 driver and I got it receiving last night! Presently it's somewhat coupled to
esp-idf but can easily be made more general purpose, so with that I've a question.
With the talk of moving the firmware "to C", what does that entail? Using one of the Espressifs SDKs? I have a lot of experience with the NONOS SDK (https://github.com/espressif/ESP8266_NONOS_SDK) but am becoming a big fan of using FreeRTOS (like with esp-idf) so would be interested in exploring https://github.com/espressif/ESP8266_RTOS_SDK Let me know if you've some thoughts on this, I'll hopefully have the driver on par with Sandeeps Arduino specific implementation tonight or tomorrow.
